High Rocks Joins Haiti Relief Effort

Meike Schleiff, HR alum and current AmeriCorps Vista at High Rocks, is leading efforts organize a High Rocks relief effort for Haiti following the January 12 earthquake.

Meike spent two months teaching English at Cap Haitien, and returned for a visit just days before the earthquake.

High Rocks Recognized by National Organization

In July 2009 High Rocks received the honor of being recognized internationally through What Kids Can Do, a national non-profit organization that supports young people throughout the world.

Dogwood Studio Has a History

The Dogwood House in Fairlea, which is home to High Rocks programs in Greenbrier County, was discovered to be a historic Sears Kit House by a visiting national expert. The Mountain Messenger, a weekly newpaper published in Lewisburg, published this article on October 31, 2009.

2008 Living the Dream Award

On January 19, 2008, two of our alums, Willa and Samantha, represented High Rocks at a ceremony where we were one of three organizations awarded the Martin Luther King Living the Dream Service Organization Honor Roll Award.

Ten Year Anniversary

In 2006, High Rocks celebrated its 10th anniversary with a gathering of alumni and friends.  WVMR, the Pocahontas County radio station prepared a special report.
